The food and service was awesome. Good food portions. Very homely environment.
Very clean and quaint restaurant. Vegetable curry wasn't on the menu but they happily made it for me and it was delicious!! We also ordered chicken curry spicy and that was great also! The cheese naan was very good but you can never go wrong with cheese and bread. Service was great and the owner came to our table to check on us. They just opened in Nov 16. We very much enjoyed the food and restaurant and will definitely be back. You won't be disappointed!
The new and improved beef biryani is by far the best in town. The owners are extreme nice people. The new Orleans area is limited on quality indo pak restaurants. The beef biryani is a must try. They also cater to spice level. I ordered mine spicy. Very impressed!
The food here is excellent! I had the shrimp Tikka masala, saag paneer, and the garlic naan. I thought it was a little pricey but worth it. It's not a fancy place just a local restaurant that serves excellent food
Yum! The food is great and the owner seemed really nice. I can only speak to the vegetarian dishes, but they were awesome. We split the aloo gobi, Chana masala, vegetable pakora, and garlic naan. They were easily able to accommodate my request for no butter on the naan. I appreciate that they are vegan friendly! Will definitely return. It's very casual on the inside and the service is good. It's pretty inexpensive too. Worth the drive from New Orleans!
Finally a wonderful Indo Pak restaurant in the NOLA area. After the utter disappointments like Nirvana, Taj Mahal and NOLA Desi Kitchen, this is a welcome addition.
The portions are nice size and the food is very authentic. My favorite dish is the Chappali Kebab. The naans are also amazing. The service is wonderful. Really nice management. Highly recommended
Excellent food and great service. Food was prepared fresh and Veg.Biriyani was very good.
Chicken Biryani is wonderful. If you order it spicy you get diced jalepeno which adds quite a kick and is delicious! The Naan is sooooo good too!
Good small hidden gem. Delicious traditional food. Quality naan. Dishes are good solid taste. Definitely recommended..
Delicious, super authentic Indian/Pakistani cuisine for a great price. The fried eggplant was out of this world they even offered to customize a dry dish into a curry for us! Quick service and super close to the airport.
Just tried their food for the very first time, specifically the Chicken Karahi (Chicken Curry) with Basmati rice, and it was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the Karahi extra spicy, and boy did they make it that way! The dish was well spiced/seasoned and tender. It was not hard to "taste an entire country" in that dish. I will definitely get more food from here. I am excited to try the naan next!
Pleasant experience at this Indian/ Pakistani Restaurant. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori with rice and the Chef's Special Smoked Chicken Curry after reading an article in the local paper with a good review. We let the owner/ manager know that it was our first time and he was incredibly welcoming and generous during our lunch. The Tandoori Chicken was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The Smoked Curry was excellent! It tasted like someone spent ours in the kitchen making it from scratch and simmering all of the flavors together. I've traveled the world and lived in New York City ( known for little India in Queens) and I can say that the smoked curry was unlike any other I have tasted. Compliments to the Chef. The decor inside is simple and modest with few tables. If you plan to come in a large group, call ahead. The Biryani ( a rice dish) is perfectly seasoned. I ordered the Goat Biryani but you can order chicken or beef instead. I wish it had more goat meat. I like that they leave in the goat bones because any good cook and foodie knows that bones add flavor to any dish. I would have still liked to see more goat meat on the bones but it was delicious. They add fried onions to the rice which gives it a nice touch and a bright flavor. They offer a variety of naan bread flavors. You can choose either rice or naan with your entrees. I would suggest ordering a few items from the menu. Portions run small but are packed with flavor. If you order Biryani they have small or large portions. They will ask you if you like mild-medium-or spicy. I ordered everything mild to medium because I like spicy but still like to taste my food without sweating. The prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back!
My wife and I had never tried Pakistani food before so we thought we would give this a try. Really excellent. The owner was super welcoming and friendly, and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the vegetable pakora. Great flavors and perfect level of spice. Would recommend.
Great place for vegans and non vegans. Right by the airport and stays open until 10PM. The hummus was great as well as the garlic and ginger naan. The staff was super kind and flexible with how you want your order. I got the cauliflower and potato dish, my friend got the chickpea potato dish and my mother got the chicken meat balls. The two dishes me and my friend got were delish, I think I liked here chickpeas a little more than my cauliflower though. They also provided us with some delicious milk ball desert dish that was amazing. Highly recommend. The spices in this food will heal your soul!
Absolutely wonderful!!!! Great hidden gem of a place!!! I will be back!!!
Great service, very nice people!!
The two of us had the pakora and samosas as appetizers, the aloo palak and bhindi masala with naan as our entrees with mango lassi to wash it down and ended with a complimentary order of gulabjamun(for being first timers) for desert. The ingredients of our meal was fresh and bright and aromatic. Perfect.
Our server was friendly, accommodating and honest. And the dining area neat and clean. It is quite the hidden gem tucked away in a corner of a two story strip mall, easier to spot in the evenings traveling westward... but find it, if you're craving "Indian" food, Wah Kitchen will not disappoint you.
OMG!!! This place is to die for!! The staff, which I think might be the owners, are so nice! The food was just awesome!!! Taste very much like home cooking. You can taste the love they put into their food. We had the samosa. My hubs had the goat liver, I had chicken tikki masala. Also ordered the cheese naan. Fabulous, flavorful. Most definitely will back!! I think we found our place for Indian food.
Stopped in here for lunch for the first time. Super friendly staff, food was super authentic, reasonably priced, great portions, and wow flavorful! Will definitely be back!!!
I've only been here for takeout, and only gotten naan and samosas. They are both delicious. The service is also friendly and helpful. I'm excited to go back and try more!
Wow! I'd heard good things, but i was still surprised . Everything fresh. The pakora was tender, as opposed to the crunchy overcooked stuff you get elsewhere. The samosas were the best I've had in years. I had the dall special which the most flavorful dall I've ever had. My sons loved their bhindi masala and smoked chicken curry. huge nan. the garlic naan is packed with garlic. Really nice people. i'm glad my wife didn't come with us, because now i have an excuse to go again soon with her.
What an awesome hidden gem! Kind staff, authentic flavors, and full bellies are a guarantee from this place. We ordered mutton Saag and Mutton Karahi. The extra spicy version was ACTUALLY spicy!! Both dishes were delicious. The garlic naan was fresh and savory. I'm excited to go back and try their other flavors (ginger and cilantro?!). Rice is complimentary and live everything else tasty and cooked to perfection. As first time guests they offered us free dessert - of course delicious (gulabjaman). So if you're looking for a very well priced Indian meal definitely try this place.
Delicious! The food was so good, my husband and I loved it. Everything is so fresh and well seasoned. We both had Saag and ginger naan and it was perfect.
We will be regulars there from now on, so glad we found this place.
Oh my goodness! What a wonderful find. We had been trying to find a good Pakistani/Indian restaurant in the area and hadn't been able to find one until now. The food is great, service is wonderful, and casual family atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Close proximity to airport for bringing guests before they depart or a nice place to have a meal after dropping visitors off at the airport.
Hidden gem for Indian/Pakistani food lovers. It's run by a family who maintain the restaurant clean and tidy.
The Shaami Kebabs and Dal Gosht are superb.
The only downside to this place is the service time, since it's run by a family. So don't barge in hungry!!!
This place is one of those quintessential hole in the wall places - serving fresh, tasty, non apologetically authentic Indian/ Pakistani food in Kenner! My husband's parents are visiting us from India, and on our way back from NOLA to BTR, we stopped by Wah Kitchen for a late lunch. The place was almost empty, but smelled delicious when we walked in. Our server was new - her second day on the job, so we may have had to repeat ourselves a couple of times, but for the most part, she knew her menu well!
We started with samosas - these were freshly fried, with yummy (but spicy) chole on the side. The samosas were tasty (albeit a little bit thick on the wrapper) and the chole were tasty too. What made me slightly mad though, was the sauce that came with it. What it is a traditional Indian green mint/ cilantro sauce, mixed with some yogurt sauce. This version was over watered down, and tasted of nothing, really. Such a disappointment.
I had the matar paneer and ginger naan. Loved both of them - the ginger naan was not very gingery at all.
My family also had the chicken karahi (rave reviews from everyone) and the garlic naan. This garlic naan is different from the usual ones you see everyone. they don't sprinkle a dash of garlic on the top, they STUFF the entire naan with crushed dried garlic. I think it is a great concept, I cannot say I was a huge fan tho - all that dried garlic gave it too much of a bite, in my opinion.
The chicken biryani was great - mild, chockful of chicken and very flavorful - not too heavy handed with spices.
Another big disappointment - the $4.00 for a single tiny piece of gulab jamun, straight from the refrigerator. Given how awesome their other food was, I was sorely bummed out! I had expected 2 pieces of plump fresh gulab jaumun, warmed up and delicious. I got a single piece of store bought jamun, colder than my teeth could handle and overly sweet.
The mint sauce and the gulab jamun are where I docked the star. Oh before I forget - the chai is awesome too!
This place was absolutely delicious!!! The workers were super friendly and the vibe was nice. I got shrimp curry and it was divine.
Great food guys love the place in Kenner very good place to come out and see them there.
Had the goat curry with basmati rice and it was sooo yummy. The staff was very friendly, and we even got a complementary dessert as it was our first time there! Would definitely come back and try out more of their food. The place felt so homey, it was like I was being served a meal by family. Definitely recommend (do try to eat some yogurt afterwards though lol)!
My son had heard good things about Wah Kitchen so we went there last night (Wed) and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had shrimp pakora that were great, cauliflower and potatoes (yum), chicken tikka boti (delicious) and fish curry (really good.) Everything was freshly made and we ordered fragrant rice and crisp methi Naan. We were given a rose water soaked donut ball (?) for dessert as we were first timers! Everyone should go eat at this wonderful restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Their food was great!!! We tried like 3 appetizers and two entrees. Everything was perfect. The naan was great too!
The only I didn't like is the Muslims who come their use it as a worship place to pray. It's like they take turns praying in the corner. I would just say be sure to bless your food, plead the blood of Jesus Christ over it and the cook and cancel out any prayers they have made over your food.
I'm so glad I found this place! I've visited a number of times in the past year and it never disappoints. I usually get the aloo chole, chicken tikka masala, or the channa masala (medium spicy) with naan and rice and I also recently tried their gulab jamun. It's all so good and flavorful, and the owners and staff are so kind!
New Orleans has a lot of good food, but it's crying out for more Indian. Sometimes you have to go to the suburbs for these things. Among the few options I've found, this place might have produced the most delicious dish yet, some stir-fried lentils with what definitely tasted like fresh spices. The samosas were standard enough, except for the accompaniments, which were a bit of chickpea curry and some other apparently spicy sauce I didn't recognize. Some complimentary gulab jamun (a condensed milk ball in sweet syrup dessert) hit the spot pretty well.
The place is small and unassuming, and notably is near the airport. It has a Pakistani slant to the menu and offers some fried American dishes I had no desire to try; it isn't perfect for me, but there's certainly enough vegetarian dishes. The owner (the menu says formerly of Shyan's - another Indian place I haven't yet tried) claims things are cooked fresh and showed some pride in it. This seems a good find to me and one that I may return to again.
My partner and I came here last night as we were driving back into town. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE! We landed here a) because I miss Pakistani food and b) I'm vegan and this place seemed a safe bet.
The owner was at the counter when we came in and I explained I am vegan and he was very happy to accommodate. I had the channa masala (very spicy) and my partner had the fish masala (medium spicy). We shared a rice and a garlic naan (made without butter for me). Everything was delicious and the naan was stuffed full of garlic - something that is rare to see in restaurants! We ate every last bite of it and immediately declared we'd be back soon.
I lived in Pakistan for awhile and was so excited over the authentic taste of this place and the very Pakistani hospitality of the place. When I mentioned I had lived in Lahore, the owner opened up the kitchen window so I could speak with his wife - one of the cooks - who is Lahori. The employees were kind, accommodating, and awesome cooks. I love that it is clean, friendly, and family-owned.
I've been coming here since this restaurant started about a year and a half ago. The quality has been A-100 since the day this restaurant opened. This place is owned by a lovely Pakistani couple that surely believes in quality over quantity. I've been to every Pakistani/Indian restaurant in New Orleans and Metairie/kenner area, and no one can beat Wah Kitchen. They treat us like family every time me and my friends or family are there. The owner will personally come up to us and ask us if everything is okay and that alone tells me that they truly care about the restaurant and their customers. I'll also say that the staff is always on point, they are very polite and also keep the restaurant very clean! 10/10 for food, 10/10 for customer service, and 10/10 for the clean restaurant! This restaurant is truly a hidden gem that i hope will get their recognition that it deserves.
I LOVE this place. So far I've brought friends, family, and my family brings their friends. It's such a great place to bring people. Small little area but the food is a 10/10 for me I ALWAYS finish my entire plate. I get goat spinach curry with biryani. The food comes out perfect. I can't thank the owner enough! Speaking of the owner- he's incredibly nice. He gave us free dessert on the house and it was fantastic. I will continue to tell family and friends. My mom said shes so excited to bring her mom here and my brother is going to bring his girlfriend. Thank you Khan, what an amazing place!
I had ordered a lot of biryani (take out/catering) here a few months ago. It was absolutely delicious. Many thanks. Feel guilty for the late review. But these folks are prompt in making it and they are very kind. May Wah Kitchen prosper.
We ended up getting dinner from here as a plan B and so glad that we did! My friend loves goat paya and seeing that they offer Indian and Pakistani food we checked out their menu. Sure enough it was on there so we headed over. It was nearby since we were staying close to the airport. We decided to get it to go and the nice lady took our order. My friend of course got the goat paya and I got the beef karahi. She asked if I would like it spicy. Sure. We waited a bit and then off we went back to the hotel to eat it. A man thanked us for coming who I'm assuming is the owner/cook.
Everything was packed nicely. She made sure to tell us to keep it upright but they took some care to ensure the sauces wouldn't spill. My friend liked the paya immensely. My beef karahi was super spicy. There were fresh green chiles and also red pepper flakes. Beware if you order it spicy! My mouth was on fire but I couldn't stop eating because it was so good. The naan that came with it was nice and fluffy. Forgive me, no pics. We were hangry and devoured it.
When you're on vacation, you check out all the cool spots to eat, but sometimes you just want a comforting meal that you know and love. This place offered just that and we were happy to have found it. It was a great ending to a day of sight seeing and walking around in the rain. Would definitely come back if I find myself back in town again!
I wasn't even hungry when I ordered takeout here. I ate everything! Fresh, delicious, and spicy. It is definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is so, so good. I got potato cutlets, and I tried them in the car on the way back to my hotel. I almost got into an accident because they were so flavorful. Don't pass this place up.
Great food and very friendly service! The beef biryani is a must try. The tikka masala and garlic naan were delicious as well. Very laid back atmosphere.
I am very picky when it comes to food. We accidentally found this restaurant, and the food was amazing. Every dish felt like home cooked dish. If you are in New Orleans, and if you are craving for Indian food, then do make it a point to stop by here.
Awesome customer service and awesome food!
Really good.. Been to couple of the indian/pakistani restaurants here in nola.... by far the best..staff/owner very nice n honest.. food was delicious...definitely gonna go back!
We were not at all disappointed with this family owned restaurant in Kenner. We ordered goat biryani, nans, masala chai, goat kheema(recommended by the owner) and aloo paratha. The goat biryani we ordered was spicy as I usually ask for double masala. It was probably the best in the states. As I am touring the states from New Zealand the best biryani I have come across was paradise biryani pointe in San Fran. But this biryani was excellent. Lots of very well cooked goat meat in great spices and masala. 9.5/10 for sure. The kheema, aloo paratha and masala chai were an easy 8/10 but I was not too impressed by the nans as they were too dry. The owner was very receptive about honest feedback and also provided warm gulab jamuns ( dessert) to us for free. Overall top service, easy location with good parking and very good food. Highly recommended :)
So we had just dragged ourselves off of an airplane after an eleventy-million hour flight. Bedraggled, tired and hungry, Wah Kitchen was the first place that presented itself on our way out of the airport. To our utter amazement and delight, Wah Kitchen turned out to be a real find.
First off: the people that own this restaurant have the sort of pride in their business that makes you want to go back. And the food was every bit up to this standard; fresh, hot, spiced just right, and leaving us both agreeing that Wah Kitchen will be a regular stop for us.
We went in for some pakistani Desi food and were blown away by their chapli kababs and biryani. The next day we ordered nihari for dine in and hot wings and samosas to go. Their hot wings were actually finger licking good!
Its all about the food. If that's all you care about, you'll love it! If a branded ambience is more important to you, then I don't recommended.
Favorite fish so far: Mutton curry SPICY
To date, the best Pakistani food I have had in the metro area. It is a privilege to be apart of the familial dining experience created by the husband and wife owners.
Outstanding dishes all around including saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, chana masala, and so much more.
Thoroughly impressed with this place. The cook was the chef at the Marriott hotel in Pakistan, so the food is of a different level. I recommend going around 2 pm on weekends because it's slower at that time. The chicken tikka masala and goat are my favorite.
Really delicious Pakistani/Indian food. We try to visit all the desi restaurants in and around New Orleans and really really loved this one in particular! We tried the chicken tikka masala, karahi chicken, daal fry, and chicken biryani. All of which were yummy! Mansoor Alykhan was very sweet and threw in gulab jamun on the house which was very tasty!! Will definitely visit often!
As much as I love New Orleans, it is seriously difficult to find authentic diverse cuisine around here which sucks because I often get cravings being from San Francisco where I can get Indian/Pakistani food at almost every corner. My friend gave me the low down about a secret place called Wah Kitchen which isn't super well known to everyone since it's technically not in New Orleans. Everyone talks all of the diverse food on Magazine Street but no one expects to find gems in Kenner. We decided to give this place a try. I ordered:
Lamb: I forgot the actual name but it was really good! It was a bit on the spicy side especially when I ordered it was mild. My friend who ordered the same thing also got hers super spicy. Honestly one of the best curries I've ever had. Perfect seasoning and flavor. Very saucy with good amount of meat
Naan: Their Naan was alright. I think it was a bit over cooked and was a bit on the hard side. I like it more bready where you can soak up the sauce. The flavor was fantastic though.
Mango Lassi: Best I've ever had. Went perfectly with my lamb dish because it was so spicy.
Overall, this place is a must try if you're craving curry or Naan bread. The service is on point and the owner is super super nice. He gave us all free dessert because it was our first time and tried to explain each dish to us. Food is authentic and restaurant is clean. Only minus 1 star since they made my dish way too spicy and Naan could be better. Otherwise, would definitely give this place a try.
Love going here. Always get the Paneer Tikka Masala. Food is always delicious and hot. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. There really isn't a large selection of Pakistani restaurants in the New Orleans area, but Wah Kitchen is a must try.
The food was delicious. We had Saag Paneer and Tikka Massala and both were very flavorful and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend!
The best Pakastani food I've had in the US. The Samosas, Tiki Masala Paneer, and Roti were excellent. Truly a jewel!
Flew in to New Orleans tonight and decided to try Wah before driving off to Baton Rouge. I am glad that I did. I ordered samosa and goat liver (yes, liver). Samosas were fine though the dough was a bit thicker than I'm used to and the chutney a bit more watery than I'm used to. I especially wanted to try the liver because I don't see it in typical desi restaurants. I liked it.
The waiter, a young lad, was attentive and polite. The owner came by to ask me about the food, actually sat with me for a few minutes to make small talk and offer me dessert on the House after my meal. When I was done eating a gulab jamun was promptly delivered and promptly enjoyed by me.
The experience was quite nice and the bill was very reasonable. Who knows, I might drive back an hour in a few days to try other dishes.
Great find in the New Orleans area for when you're looking for something new to try. Everyone working there was also friendly and helpful when we ordered and didn't quite know what everything on the menu was.
Just finished eat (haven't even left yet!) and this place was excellent. Very friendly staff and the Chicken Tikka Was amazing. I wish they could open a second location on the northshore!
I will definitely be back.
The food is awesome! My wife has been craving a "good" Indian/Pakistani place for years. We have tried a few and were quite literally disgusted with the food and conditions so we are ALWAYS hesitant to try new places. That said we took another chance and were richly rewarded.
We had the cheese naan, goat curry and another chicken dish (sorry I cannot remember what it was) but we both loved every bite. Apparently, you have a choice of spice levels mild, medium and spicy.
We order both dishes in the medium and it was "almost" too spicy for us. That said, we are admittedly snowflakes when it comes to spicy things. If you enjoy spice (you know who you are) then the medium is plenty. If you enjoy pain, torture and the risk of blowing an "o-ring" then the spicy is for you.
That said, we loved the food, and the staff was helpful and friendly and was answering questions and guiding us on suggestions.
In summary a great place.
My only discontent would be about the restaurant which has more of a po-boy, quick sandwich shop feel. The food here is near gourmet and I would love a better ambiance/experience. That said it is clean and tidy.
Overall, loved the food. We will be back.
Enjoyed my lunch here! Spicy, good curry with a free desert just because it was out first time there! Reasonable prices too!
Hands down the best Indian I've had in town, and we've had plenty!!!! The Karahi's were amazing.
The dearth of satisfying cuisine from India and Pakistan in our little corner of sub tropical Louisiana has not gone unnoticed by me. The greater New Orleans region has but a handful of mediocre offerings from that great continent, with one notable exception in the high end category, but, alas, nothing quick and cheap in the...well, the quick and cheap category. This humble, family operated restaurant fills that niche fairly well. I've dined here twice, and thought the offerings freshly prepared and tasty. I'm pretty sure the veggies in the korma had been previously frozen, but they were a good quality product, and not watery and tasteless as some frozen vegetables can be. The onion naan was delicious, and I liked the chole dish with potatoes. Service is relaxed, and food doesn't fly out of the kitchen. They brew iced tea which I really appreciate. I'll definitely be back.
The most authentic, reasonably-priced Indo-Pak cuisine in the area. The food is always hot, freshly-made, and absolutely delicious. Their chicken biryani is out of this world, and my it's my family's go-to comfort food when we don't feel like cooking - highly recommend this dish if you get only one thing from here! And last but not least, their hospitality is as amazing as their food. Wah Kitchen is a hidden gem!
Stumbled upon this gem and it was definitely a good find. Food is delicious and always a good experience. Dishes are all made to order, service is friendly and fast.
Friendly service, tasty food, and decent prices. My husband and I stopped at Wah for lunch last weekend and were genuinely impressed - every dish was made with care, and the naan was fresh and delicious. We'll be back!
Best Indian in Nola! Great service, very attentive. Great experience for me and my mom! She thought the food was too spicy so they took it back, made it more mild, and added a free dessert and cheese naan!
The BEST biryani in the New Orleans area!
Love this place. The food is authentic and delicious. They have the best chicken tikka massala! And the owner is so nice, definitely recommend.
Love the food biryani is yummy mango shake was perfect.
Best food at affordable prices. We were craving for Indian food and found this surprisingly in New Orleans. We had all vegetarian items and everything was tasty!
Great food. Very humble staff. Especially Mr. Masroor Khan's wonderful hospitality.
Delicious Indian/Pakistani food. They make their own ma'am. I normally get the Vegetable Pakora and some butter chicken.
Clean Restaurant, Friendly and attentive staff. Owner was present and very friendly and polite. Good food, reminded me of Homemade Food.
Wah Kitchen has delicious Pakistani, Indian cuisine and American food. I love their mango smoothie and garlic naan. They are always so friendly and get good service. Also, don't forget to try their yummy desserts, I promise is like nothing you ever tasted. Is so affordable and good. I highly recommend you come out and try their amazing food????
Probably one of those authentic Indian/Pakistani restaurants who know what they are cooking. The portion size and price is good as well.. Could put little less oil and that would make perfect. 5 star based on overall experience and service. Surely, will recommend who want to taste real desi flavor...
Great, authentic food! Best Indian/Pakistan food around. Everything i have tried is fresh and delicious. The staff is super nice and very accommodating.
Very authentic Indian/Pakistani cuisine. The food is so delicious and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We tried biryani and it was so good. The price is $$. They offered us free desert. The place is kid friendly. It is handicap accessible and has free parking lot.
eaten here a few times. Food is excellent. Have only tried the shrimp and chicken Pakora, both were amazing
Very tasty cuisine.
Fine helpful staff.
Very neat and clean restaurant.
Now orders can be placed through Uber Eats.
